With this design, we wanted to improve on some downfalls of our popular old Sense Carafe based on years of feedback from customers and our own evolving product line. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe maintain a sensory shape, with a wine-glass bottom (in fact, the curves are very consistent with our matching Sensory Wine Glass) to give plenty of space to swirl and for aroma to collect into a more central point. With a generous mouth opening of just over 7cm, it is going to fit most brewers very comfortably. We took this to heart and travelled to our manufacturing partner in China to work for a day with their master glass blower to find the right shape and right compromise in the spout. We went through over 40 iterations together to land on the current design. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat most people don't know is that all of the spouts (on any server) are made by hand, using simple tools like knives. The way the material reacts to pressure or material thickness is quite organic and therefore it is sometimes difficult for glass blowers to replicate spout designs made by designers in CAD. For this reason, we wanted to go there and just hand-design something that works better through trial-and-error using the real techniques. Yes, this even includes our old Sense Carafe. It's a combination of shape and the nature of how spouts are made. All sensory carafes on the market pour very badly as a result.
