Out the gates this blend is fun, juicy and easy to sip up. Nemesio is an award winner for his show stopping Caturra. His Pink Bourbon has been poignant and floral. Given the small fruit out turn from the fly crop, he decided to combine the two varieties. This has made for a balanced sweetness in the cup. There are notes of apricot, papaya & creamy notes of citrus. A bigger feel on pallet when this coffee is warm & cools with soft honeyed florals.

Nemesio Ramos Trujillo, his wife, and six children live high up in the mountains of Tarqui, Huila, in the hamlet of El Carmen on the Cordillera Central. Their farm spans a total surface area of three hectares (7 acres), a few acres of this of his land is currently producing coffee. Nemesio is a third-generation coffee producer and has been growing coffee for the last 35 years. He’s been living and cultivating at Finca Galaxia for 20 years, where all the daily farm chores are done by Nemesio and eight of his family members. During the height of the harvest in October through November,
Nemesio employs six local pickers to hand-select the coffee cherries. Finca Galaxia also has a mitaca crop in May and June, which produced this tiny lot we have been graced with.

This microlot was depulped and fermented for 48hr.s, rinsed and dried in a parabolic greenhouse solar dryer for up to 20 days. Pink Bourbon has recently been discoverd as a Landrace type coffee. Not to be confused with Bourbon lineage, Pink Bourbon has a versatile and bright tropical range. Caturra on the other hand, is in fact a Bourbon mutation. Caturra, when in top form, tends to be weighted with yellow fruits, mild florals and round with a medium-plus acidity. Nemesio produces one of our favorite Caturras. His blend of these two coffee types have made for a complimentry musing.
