Production
Cherries are collected at peak ripeness and delivered to Safo from Faficho Village in Bensa, Sidama. They are floated and depulped immediately with a Penagos pulper, which removes both the cherry skin and mucilage. The seeds are then dried on raised beds in partial shade for 12 days. Tamiru is focused on producing some of the best coffees in Ethiopia, pushing the boundaries of what's possible through innovative processing and drying techniques, and cultivates coffee at elevations reaching 2,700 MASL.
Roaster Notes
This coffee comes from Alo, a project by Tamiru Tadesse. Processed at his main station, Safo, this lot is made up of cherries delivered from Faficho Village in Bensa, Sidama. Grown at an exceptional elevation of 2,390 MASL, the coffee was harvested between November 2025 and January 2026. The cup is dense and beautifully structured, with notes of ripe watermelon, nectarine, and honeysuckle florals. Alo began in the village of Alo Bensa, where Tamiru was born. Coffee has always been a part of his life, but it wasn't until later that he decided to make it his career. Today, he's focused on producing some of the best coffees in Ethiopia, pushing the boundaries of what's possible through innovative processing and drying techniques, as well as cultivating coffee at elevations reaching 2,700 MASL. We first connected with Tamiru a few years ago, when Alo was just getting started, and it's a joy to finally offer one of his coffees.
